The McCray family knows deeply the effects that kidney disease can have on a life and a family – Mindy McCray and both her daughters have a rare genetic kidney disease, called Alports Syndrome. Years after Mindy McCray’s father passed away of Alports at age 22, Mindy found herself in need of a kidney donor to save her own life.

On April 12, 2005 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, Mindy’s father-in-law, David McCray, selflessly donated his kidney – giving her a second chance at life, and giving a mother back to her family.
